Color first
Loud, on purpose
We punch absurd amounts of oversaturated yarn so a piece does in one glance what a beige room can't do in a year.
New batch just dropped — 8 pieces, hand-pulled this month.
Shop the batchThread Theory punches loud, oversaturated yarn into pieces people can't help but pet. Made one punch at a time, never mass-produced.
Every piece is a physical, textured object — shadow, loops, and fuzz you can find with a fingertip.
Color first
We punch absurd amounts of oversaturated yarn so a piece does in one glance what a beige room can't do in a year.
Texture is the proof
Two-inch pile, high and low loops, real shadow. If it could be a flat print instead, it isn't doing its job.
Small batch
Hand-pulled in small runs, row by row. Slower production is the feature — we don't rush the craft to chase volume.
A small batch, hand-pulled and sheared. When a colorway sells, it's gone until the next run.
Full Palette
Four colors, four loop heights — the most maximal piece in the batch.
Pink × Yellow × Blue
Three bands — pink, yellow, a thin loop-blue horizon — stacked and nubby.
Backing Green × Ink
Backing green pulled tall against ink — the rare piece where green leads.
Loop Blue × Cream
A wide field of loop blue with a single cream gap running down the middle.
Punch Pink × Yarn Yellow
A nubby, two-inch pile in punch pink that bleeds into butter yellow at the edges.
Four steps from a blank backing to a wall that finally says something. No shortcuts, no machines.
It starts at the yarn wall. We pick the colorway first — does this make the color louder or quieter — before anything else.
Yarn gets punched into cotton duck by hand, row by row, with a tufting gun. Hours of it. The pile builds height as it goes.
Loops get trimmed to different heights — high and low — so the pile throws its own shadow and reads as texture, not graphic.
We glue a backing, bind the edges by hand, and add a hanging bar. Then it ships in a box you'll want to keep.
What people tell us after the box shows up.
“I rent, so I can't repaint. This made the whole room feel like a decision instead of a default.”
“Bought it as a housewarming gift for someone who has everything. It was the only thing she couldn't stop touching.”
“I followed the whole punch on their stories and bought it half-finished. Worth every hour you can see in the pile.”
Punched by hand into cotton duck backing with a tufting gun, row by row, then sheared to different pile heights and bound by hand. No machines, no mass production.
Every piece ships with a wooden hanging bar already sewn into the backing. One nail or a picture hook holds most sizes. Hang weight is listed on each product page.
Spot-clean with a damp cloth and let it dry flat. The wool-blend yarn holds color through normal handling — just keep it out of direct, all-day sun.
Sometimes, between batches. Tell us the colorway and the wall on the contact page and we'll say yes or point you at the closest thing in the batch.
Because each piece is made in a small run, returns are case-by-case within 14 days of delivery for anything that shows up wrong. Reach out and we'll sort it.

Yes, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to begin production. The remaining balance is due before shipping. This ensures we can secure materials and dedicate time to your piece.
The current batch is small and it moves. If a colorway speaks to you, it probably won't wait.
